Pack 236 - Holland, OH

WHAT IS SCOUTING?

Cub Scouting is fun! No matter what grade you are in, kindergarten through fifth, it can be a blast. Do you like to learn by doing? This is just the place. You can learn to tie knots, set up a tent, or shoot a bow and arrow (archery). Have you ever cooked a meal on a campfire? Sent a secret code to a buddy? Built a birdhouse? Hiked? Earn rewards for doing these things in Cub Scouts.  Each time you complete an accomplishment or learn a new skill, you will be rewarded. Sometimes the reward is a loop for your belt, a pin, or a patch. Sometimes it is a smile on your parents' faces to see you grow and learn.

Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser - Results The food was excellent and the Pack made $305 profit from the spaghetti dinner fundraiser!! Many thanks to the Terry’s for their hard work!!! Turnout was lighter than last year, so the Pack Committee decided that perhaps next year, we should look instead at having a pancake breakfast in February or March to improve attendance. We will keep you posted.
Next Pack Meeting – September 9
The May 20 Pack meeting is the last group meeting until the welcome back picnic on September 9. However, there are a number of Pack and Council Scouting events scheduled throughout the summer as listed on the calendar on the back.
Cub Scout Advancement Changes Starting June 1
The new Cub Scout rank advancement books are now available. Some rank requirements have changed significantly. Many adventures have been revised, eliminated, or added. It appears like it will simplify advancements across the board, but we suggest parents download the requirements rather than buy the books. Note that Den leaders will each be given an official book so they can plan out next year.
Cub Day Camp & Other Camping Opportunities
Pack 236 has chosen week #1 (June 10-14) as our official Pack week. It is not too late to sign up your Cub to attend any of the 5 weeks of Cub Day Camp. Cost is $255. Follow the link for more info. Cub Day Camp (erieshorescouncil.org)
There are many other Cub camping opportunities between June and October. Refer to the Council website and available flyers.
Pack 236 Summer Program
After the May 20 Pack graduation, there will not be any scheduled Den or Pack meetings until September. Dens may meet and organize summer activities on their own, but the Pack has planned out (3) activities open to everyone. We are also investigating other activities such as swimming and/or Fort Meigs activity. Note that if you attend any (3) Pack or Council activities during the summer, you qualify for the Summer Time Award belt loop!
